Legal 500 er en internationalt anerkendt fortegnelse over anbefalede advokater samt advokatvirksomheder.

 

Ud fra interview med advokater, koncernjurister og andre juridisk ansvarlige, udfærdiger Legal 500 hvert år en opdateret fortegnelse, der foreligger i bogform og er tilgængelig på hjemmesiden legal500.com.

 

I fortegnelsen for 2009 er følgende kommentarer er anført:

 

EU and competition

Peter Dann Jørgensen at Bender von Haller Dragsted has ‘a good understanding of EU legislation’. In 2008, the firm was appointed preferred legal counsel for Copenhagen Municipality regarding EU-tenders and won a spectacular case for Magnus Informatik against the Danish tax authorities.  

 

IT  

Within IT, Bender von Haller Dragsted is a first tier firm, At IT boutique Bender von Haller Dragsted, Martin von Haller Grønbæk is the Danish expert on open source and emerging issues around Web 2.0 and internet law. Peter Lind Nielsen ‘ provides a fair and straight service in a timely and personal manner’. Hanne Bender is also recommended. In 2008 the firm advised Copenhagen Municipality on complex public tenders involving framework agreements for outsourcing. Nicolai Dragsted, commended for his ‘ long industry experience and a deep insight into IT-contract law’ advised SKI on the establishment of new framework agreements for the Danish public sector.  

 

Intellectual property  

Within Intellectual property, Bender von Haller Dragsted is a third tier firm, Kasper Heine at Bender von Haller Dragsted advises on digital rights related to new business models, licensing contracts, Web 2.0, open source and digital databases. Nicolai Dragsted and Hanne Bender advised Software on issues regarding software licensing contracts.

The Firm:  

This firm is somewhat unique in Denmark as a large IT boutique. It fields an expanding team of 18 lawyers specialising in IT law, which is characterised by commentators as a ”fine, niche group with some really excellent members.” The team is comprised of specialists within every field of IT law, including e-commerce, data protection, IT contracts, outsourcing and public procurement. Interviewees are impressed that the group has the critical mass to allow its individuals to explore specific areas. The firm is also increasingly involved in M&A and corporate work in connection with IT companies. Litigation is a further important feature of the practice, and the group houses three certified IT mediators. The firm is also involved in the telecoms field and recently handled the negotiation of licences for mobile phone operation on airplanes.

 

The Lawyers:  

Nicolai Dragsted has a "great capacity within the IT field" and comes highly recommended. He has gained an excellent reputation, thanks in part to his authorship of works on IT. Sources add that he is a "great transactional IT lawyer" as well.  

 

Jesper Langemark is "exceptionally good in systems delivery and systems acquisition work," according to commentators. His writing on the subject has helped to build the firm’s reputation in the IT sector, as has his practice.
